Girls Night Out!

Tonight, K & I had a "girls night"! I'll explain what we did in a moment, first let me explain what led up to this special idea. A few weeks back, I started 'reflecting', if you will, on how fast time flies, how we are always 'rushing' to this and that, and how it seems that I feel like my kids are growing up each and every time I blink! Seriously, just this morning while fixing K's hair, she reminded me that only 13 days until she turns 8!!!! So, I told them both that day that during October I would take them each on a Friday(separately) out on a "date". They liked the idea, and seemed excited about it. So, then just earlier this week on Oprah I watched a really sad show/message. I'm not sure if it was a rerun or not, but it broke my heart and also reiterated the fact that as a momma I have to SLOW DOWN!!!! Stop rushing to here and there and pay more attention to my real job on this earth--raising my children that God has blessed me with for this short life. Oprah's episode was more about children's safety and focusing on your child vs. distractions (cell phones...and, on and on.) But it made me realize that I too often take them(the kids) for granted, and you know, it wont be long before they are in hs, then off to college.Okay, okay, so I am rambling a touch. So, back to our night together. I took K to have her nails and toes painted! She was so,so excited! She has never had anybody but me, momma(or a n Aunt) do her hands & feet, so this was such a treat! She thoroughly enjoyed the nails, the feet however, well...she has 'sensitive' feet like her Momma! When her toes were buffed, I thought she might come unglued!!!! She survived, you know, I've raised her on my "pain is beauty" theory. She even had her toes dried in the fancy-dancy toe dryer. WOW! After that we topped it off with supper of her choice:Wendy's. Hey, it fit into my budget just fine. ;) We had a GREAT time, and it was fun just sitting back and watching her enjoy herself. I did not have my nails done, this was night was all about focusing on her. It was a great night, and I hope that we made some lasting memories she can look back on one day.~e

That is so sweet. I bet you two had a ball. She looks adorable.

I saw that Oprah too, and my heart hurt for her. I do need to slow down and take in every moment. I need to make a date with one kid at a time. What a great idea. Thanks. Ashlyn will be thrilled to have Mommy all to herself :)
